Snakes & Ladders Board Game

Snakes & Ladders is a worldwide classic board game originated from ancient India where it was known as ‘Moksha-Patamu’. A player moving up the board represented life's spiritual journey, complicated by virtues - the ladders, and vices - the snakes.

When playing the game, pre-school children learn to develop the skills of counting and recognizing numbers. When landing on a ladder it’s the shortcut to speed to the end, but once landing on the snake’s head it’s going backwards sliding to the snake’s bottom which is further from the goal. The game is designed with the concept days of prosperity and adversity. It helps develop kid’s frustration tolerance that kids learn “One may not win even if he gets a head start; one may not lose if he goes behind.” Everyone may win or lose, but they can all have fun! The skills of human interaction can be practiced and children learn to deal with emotional frustration by transformation by playing the game.

Each player rolls a die before the game starts, the player who throws the highest number will be the one to have the first turn. The players will move their pieces starting from square 1, following the numbers on the board. If a player rolls a 6, then the player would move their piece six places. When one player lands on a top of a snake, their playing piece will slide down to the bottom of the snake. Whereas landing on the bottom of a snake the player will remain in the same spot until their next turn. When a player lands at the base of a ladder, it immediately climbs to the top of the ladder. Whereas landing at the top of a ladder the player will stay there until the next turn. The player does not move to the bottom of the ladder. The first player that reaches the highest space on the board wins the game. To win the player will need to roll the exact number to get you to the last space. If the player rolls a higher number than needed to land exactly on the last number, their piece does not move and remains there until their next turn, when they can roll again.
